The old feller seems to be getting rather intermittent of late. 20th October last post, save you looking it up.
Is he ok? Does anyone know?

I noticed that too and wondered the same thing.
Pat
|
Given how forgetful he is, maybe he's just forgotten where we are ;)
Seriously though, hope he's ok.

I'd wondered too. There have been a number of threads I thought might have tempted him.
But he might be on holiday I suppose.
Hope he's OK.
|
Let's hope he returns. We don't want to lose any more members.
|
Really enjoy his posts from travels around the world.
Hope he is OK!
|
I emailed him yesterday but havn't had a reply yet.
Pat
|
Wouldn't mind having a natter once with the old fellow.
Always interesting post and he is sharp.
Hope he isn't ill anybody in the know?
|
I recall that he comes this way to Somerset from time to time (familiy here IIRC) so maybe hes just on one of those trips

Pat's emailed him, so hopefully good news will be forthcoming.
|
I haven't emailed 'im this time, what's the point? he knows where we are.
|
Nothing recent on his Facebook.
|
Last time he did this he wandered back in through another thread, like Groucho Marx at an official reception.
|
I've not had a reply which is very unusual.
Pat
|
Maybe he's just away or feeling under the weather? Until he replies or returns not much any of us can do unless someone knows his phone number.
|
I believe he's pretty local to me in W Sussex, so if I can be of any help please let me know
|
Does anyone on here know his address? Presumably there's a chance his realname is on the user database but that can't be used to track him down. Not legally.
Let us hope he is well and just enjoying a break.
|
Let's be illegal hen and find out if he is ok .
He is a old timer he doesn't mind me saying this I hope.>;)
|
Can't happen like that - it would in breach of Data Protection and Khoo Systems could be prosecuted.
Someone on her (e.g. Pat) has exchanged emails... so probably know his real-name.
|
Yes I do, however AC has presumably told people who he wants to know.
I'm not about to change that.
Pat
|
He did once tell us enough to work out his name, and from that his address. But don't you think it would be a bit weird to knock on his door and say, 'Hello, you don't know me, but I'm from the internet and what news of Mr x?'
|
I agree that anyone that knows his details could probably find him and check he's okay. Anyone who doesn't know his details should not be able to.
So for most of us on here, we will know how he is if he ever returns to this forum or replies to one of the emails sent (e.g. by Pat).
I wasn't suggesting I tracked him down you know :-)
Let's hope he is actually well and just away for a bit.
|
Maybe he's gorn back to Malta now we've votid to remove all the immigrunts.
|
Looking at his recent visit/post history.... he last visited here last Tuesday (25th Oct) but last posted 5 days before that (20th Oct). So he's not posting as much as he used to either - which is a shame.
Doesn't he sometimes visit relatives or something? Maybe he doesn't have Internet access and will be amused by this thread.

Actually he advertised a pamphlet he had written but said we would have to buy it if we wanted to read it.
Anybody on a forum could be traced if you really wanted to follow the clues, but that would be an ungentlemanly thing to do. Leave it to his personal acquaintances to act as they see fit.
|
I couldn't agree more Cliff.
Pat
|
And I think you'll find a few people with the same name as old AC so not necessarily straight forward to find the right AC anyway.
He did once post a reference to something on HJ that I think he'd written. We had that removed as mods just in case. But I doubt you'd easily find him from even that article.
|
>>But I doubt you'd easily find him from even that article<<
It would certainly be un-gentlemanly to try to do so.
.....and in breach of a confidentiality from a former mods job surely?
Pat
|
I don't know his details anyway. But I don't intend doing anyway. You've emailed him and got not reply which doesn't mean much unless he always replies promptly. I'd hope he does not say he's away on Facebook because that tells people his house is likely to be empty.
I don't have the article details - just remember something about one he referenced so had a name. But name can be more common than you think - don't forget I work for Honestjohn ;-)
I do hope old Lud is okay. Fingers crossed.
|
I might be coming across as a bit morbid and all with messages like 'fingers crossed'. But my father-in-law (84) had a heart attack just over 3 weeks ago. Thankfully 2 days before we went away on holiday. Thankful that is we were around and not a 3 hour flight away somewhere in Greece!
You just don't know with these old 'uns. Father in law doing well. You'd never know he's had a heart attack and a stent inserted!
AC is no doubt away enjoying himself. It's a shame he doesn't write more about what he got up to in his interesting life. Maybe he did and we need to buy the book! :-)
|
I have two articles on file written by old 'king Lud. One was forwarded to me by a mod who is now a grumpy old fart, and the other one was posted to me.
I've 'Binged' his name + West Sussex + obituary, but that lead to a dead end.
As I stated before, he knows where we are so it's best left at that IMO.
|
>> I've 'Binged' his name + West Sussex + obituary
Obituary... he visited her a week ago you know. You could find someone with the same name and it might not be him either.
Like you I think we wait for his return. Maybe he's gone into hiding in case Trump wins next week.
|
>> You could find someone with the same name and it might not be him either
I reckon I'd know if it was his obit.
>>Maybe he's gone into hiding in case Trump wins next week
Trump isn't a Malteser, like Lud, but I'm sure he has a soft centre.

Can't be difficult to find someone with a PT cruiser around Brixton, especially one with a dodgy wheel bearing (or am I barking up the wrong tree?).
Perhaps he's having a good old chuckle with L'escargot?
|
Rumours of my demise are much exaggerated.
I'm as well as can be expected at my age, and very touched that anyone gives a damn.
I'm only about a quarter Maltese though. I look a bit foreign but don't sound it.
Thank you chaps and chapesses.
Er... YEEE-hah!

Glad to hear it!

Where have you been? You were missed.

Seeing giant rats, apparently. :)

I thought the usual scenario involved pink elephants?
|

Very pleased to hear it too, even if you are a forriner.
:o}
|
I do hope you feel suitably embarrassed Lud, I've been so worried about you and it would help if you checked your emails now and again. Tut:)
I was just about to jump in the car and head south to investigate:)
Pat
|
Pat, you may not like this but you are a charming individual.
Almost makes me feel ashamed of being all right...
|
...and so it should Lud, I am actually quite cross with you at the moment....not that it will make one iota of difference!
....and one thing I'm certainly NOT, is charming:(
Pat
|
Why are you cross with me?
Is it because I is brown I wonder? (snigger) Doesn't take much sun to give me a tan.
I can call you charming if I want. Just keep that rope-tightening baton down by your side comrade... Ian will get shirty if he has to keep bailing you out.
Heh heh...

You can't disappear yet, we still need to have that moonlit wander around your garden, glass in hand and ciggie in the other, while we put the world to rights, you know!
See, I'm weakening already:)
...and Ian is well used to baling me out!

Where is he?
The Notting Hill Carnival has been and gone without a word from the old feller?
I fear the worst. An incredibly irritating man, but I miss him.
|
Me too...miss him that is.
I've heard nothing from him, but sometimes we have to accept that may be what the person wants and allow them their privacy.
Pat
|
>> An incredibly irritating man, but I miss him.
Possibly, although I don't recall him ever being rude, unlike some on here.
I got the impression he likes a tipple. Hope he's alright.
|
I emailed him at 10:37am ... no reply, yet.
|
Some on here will disagree when we/you do this. I say thank you.
I do hope the old chap is okay and just got bored/fed-up of visiting and posting on this site. He's not popped in since early April.

I didn't get that one. You may be using my old obsolete email address.
No need to worry about me though. I am enjoying the first b***** mary of the evening, a complex mixture, vodka-based, dash of pepper sauce, lacking only lemon juice, forgot the lemons at Tesco today, damn!
Look out! Isn't that a pink elephant sneaking up on tiptoe? Yaroo!
|
And there's me with a lemon I only needed half of.
Glad you're well AC! :-)
|
Good to see you are ok A.C.
Old dogs keep going.,:)
|
Being that ole 'king Lud is no longer wivvus, maybe I could post a couple of texts he sent me a few years ago.
For no other reason than thinking some of ewe may be interested in reading his words.
Thoughts?
|
"Being that ole 'king Lud is no longer wivvus..."
Do you know something we don't?
|
You know I like a joke now and again FP, but no, no bad news to report I'm pleased to say.
|
The old stick doesn't post as often now which is a shame.
|
I think if he wanted them made public he would have posted those words on here.
They were meant for your ears only and really should stay that way.
Pat
|
'Tis only human to be curious though. I hope it's nothing we've done.
Good luck to him though, wherever he may be.
|
It's nothing we've done;)
Pat

Well, I'm a quarter Irish - probably from the North, going by mother's maiden name of Donnelly.
I don't look furrin either but I WAS born in Malta
|
Hope you realise I've been scouring the Hatched, Matched and Despatched in your local paper for the last two weeks?
Pat
|
>>but I WAS born in Malta
When are you going home?
|
I spent a couple of months in Malta in late 1956,. I thought it was not very nice.
My mother loved it pre-war, probably aided by the naval wives club, the availability of house help very cheaply gained and the fact in those days it was foreign (hot) climes, normally out of reach of ordinary folk.
To blow my own trumpet (!). I won the most beautiful baby cup, in my age group (up to 6 months I think) in the Malta naval wives club competition . My photo was published in the club magazine, which is still in the family :-)

Suitably framed and taking pride of place on the mantlepiece no doubt. Should keep the grandchildren well away from the fire. ;)

Ah ... the standard babies bum photo :) I'll have to dig out a photo of me when I was a baby, almost as Budeiful as you were ;)

It's a good job I kept the receipt for the wreath ;)
Glad you're ok Lud.
