Has anyone got/tried these on a regular basis?

No, but then we have quite a soft mattress.

....I bet you raise a few laughs with two of those tied to your knees.....

...how many times do I have to tell you, it's an axe.

(you've been listening to The Stranglers too much!)

Excellent young man. I should have foreseen that Coming.

I have got both the simple padded type and the gel type. The gel type have a tough plastic outer kneel layer or shell which combined with the gel makes working on rough uneven surfaces easy enough with no painful 'feel'. I've used both types to clamber over the roof of my holiday house when repairing it.

Unfortunately the tough outer shell is too hard and can break tiles as there is little load spreading. The softer padded type hurt a bit, but spread the load better and don't cause tile breakages.

In conclusion: choose the type you want for the job.

Just delegate MD, it works for me!

Delegation is fine if one can find a competent candidate to delegate to Pat!

Not tried the gel ones, but i have the rigid foam ones. They can be a bit uncomfortable they don't really bend which when you need to 'half' bend down can be a bit uncomfortable. When wearing them you also become very aware of them, in that feel quite large and rigid. Whatever type you get don't get ones with the elastic cords that go around the back, they move around too much.

How else would you propose to keep them in place Sooty?

Any way. I've just picked up a decent pair (I hope) from Screwfix. £12.50 + the dreaded.

I am fortunate in having a Toolstation which is nearer than Screwfix. (looks and feels like an identikit version of Screwfix).

Their prices are generally lower for the same stuff, and their service is excellent.

Just awarded retailer of the year 2017 by Which?, making it two years in a row.

Avoid the ones with narrow elastic bands, try to get one with as wide a band as possible.

Got 'em but they're not gel pads and they sit below the knee. Quite frustrating really.

I know a few tradesmen that use those type of trousers, apparently the brand that are made in Sweden are the best thing since sliced bread. Not cheap at £60 but very good. I can't remember the name of them, I'll ask.

Snickers is the name of them.

I did reply to this yesterday MD, but the post was removed:)

The swear filter has allowed it many times in the past so I can only assume it was a moderator having a bad day!

I suggested you were not very tall, or vertically challenged I think is the posh way of saying it.

Lorry driver/builder banter is banned;)

Not me.

For the record, (and I'm sure it's been mentioned before), anything "removed" by us generally gets hidden, not deleted. It's not still here hiding behind a cloaking device, so maybe you had a senior moment ;)

That would be impossible VX, since I'm only a mere whippersnapper!

Hi Pat et al,

I used the new Gel pads today and although I'm still crippled they provided a much better experience than the normal fare.
