SKY Q - Stops Working if No Satellite Signal - zippy
Been out for the day and now home ready to watch a few programs on TV.

There is no satellite signal and the instructions are to turn off the box at the mains and see if that "fixes the problem".

Of course in switching the thing off, it won't allow viewing of any recordings or access to internet based catch-up TV or on demand services until it gets a signal.

Crappy design!

Perhaps to stop people bypassing the box authorisation process.

An evening of the Grand Tour it is then!

Just a thought, if the problem is your dish, or somewhere in your house, you can plug your box into a neighbours dish and it'll authorise the box, if that is the issue.

I have a feeling TiVo doesn't let you watch TV or recordings unless it is internet connected. Same reason I guess.

Sky dishes are needed where BB is poor <5Mb as in my street.
Sky does not have the network to support everyone with SkyQ over BB - early days for Sky over BB.

If my Sky Q plays up (which is rarely) i switch it off at the plug, but only for around 30 seconds, then back on and the box resets itself and is back to normal after a couple of minutes.
