...has been restored. I agreed a deal with a painter/decorator/handyman. The work was supposed to cost £630. In due course I handed over the cash and asked him to check it. He did so and handed me back £60. Had I made a mistake? No, the work had taken less time than he expected and "you can't overcharge people".

I think that should be Checkatrade's motto.

Unless of course he thought £500 was the right price in the first place....
