 'railtrack' letters - Tigger
I've just come across this. Some of the letters are hilarious.

After the assets of Railtrack plc was sold to Network Rail, the name
'Railtrack' was removed from the Companies House register.
Subsequently, a Scottish gentleman registered Railtrack Ltd as a
company in Scotland. Despite its registered address now being an
Edinburgh tenement and the company (Company No. SC249080) being
dormant since its foundation, numerous solicitors, debt collectors and
private individuals have written to Railtrack Ltd.

...Glad you're enjoying them!...

Yes, thanks for posting the link.

Some of it is quite funny, but I do wonder about the motivation of the guy who registered the company name.

Looks like a deliberate attempt to waste peoples' time.

And to what end?

The incompetent solicitors will all be very competent at charging for every letter they send.

Who pays for that?

Ultimately, I suspect we do.

Railtrack has to pay the compo and increased costs, which in turn means they charge the train operating companies more for providing the infrastructure, which in turn feeds through to higher fares.

When I try to access

I'm told that the requested URL was not found.

watch.mewank.co.uk/RailtrackAndOtherLetters.pdf

is a tiny file that just tells me where to buy the book. Am I missing something?

Probably that the original post is nearly three years old.

I find it interesting that 'scotsbear' joins the forum, makes one post and that is to recommend a commercial product.

Nasty suspicious mind?

Not me Shirley!

>> I find it interesting that 'scotsbear' joins the forum, makes one post.....

Donning my detective hat, I can confirm Scotsbear is the author of Railtrack.

Whilst we don't normally allow self promotion of an item or product, in this particular case we'll "turn a blind eye" as this might actually be of use to someone, instead of the usual tat that people try and self promote.

I'd be wary of that part of the URL FP.

"I'd be wary of that part of the URL FP."

Absolutely. I was trusting Avast to block it if it was as nasty as it sounds.

Ugh! Whatever next? Porn on the internet?
