 John Barry RIP - corax
Shame about John Barry's death at 77. I loved his style of music - smooth and suave like the Bond themes.

I only realised the other day he wrote the theme music for The Persuaders.

He was Ok-ish, all very samey. Goldfinger theme was really good because of Bassey, not Barry.

Now when Barry Gray goes, I shall be weeping and wailing.

Just been listening to a spot of Matt Monro. My favorite is of course 'On Days Like These', but a close second is 'Born Free', by John Barry.

We went to see the Halle play James Bond themes over the Christmas period. Very good it was. The conductor joked about John Barry believing in the end that he wrote the music to what we know think of as the James Bond theme. It was the music for Doctor No of course and Monty Norman wrote it.. well he's got the royalties at least. Barry only arranged the music.

Don't forget Born Free too.
