 Kencast rendering. - R.P.
This has been used on the new house I'm buying. It seems to be self-coloured. The surveyor has given the place a reasonably clean bill of health - with a comment on some discolouration on the Kencast that appears to be some sort of mossy/algae sort of stuff. It's not bad just some discolouration more than anything. I assume it will jet wash off would that be a sensible thing to do or will it ruin the finish ?

My questions would be ~ why was the rendering put on in the first place, and what is it hiding?

There are chemicals to remove it, but that may then leave a cleaner patch.

I would've thought pressure washing was a no-no.

Am I right in thinking this is built of Kencast blocks that has since been rendered?

Is this classed as Non Standard Construction?

Edit: if this built of kencast blocks - walk. quickly, away.

No it is standard construction - it's a new build. Surveyor is happy with that side of it it's purely an aesthetic thing according to him.

Ah ok.

If you clean it up, you lock yourself into a constant round of cleaning it up. It all has to age somehow, so as its a new build let it grow some character.
