London Tube gets Virgin - smokie
Not sure if I already read it here, sorry if I did.

Many tube stations now have Virgin WiFi, free to all for the summer.

I used it today and it's pretty good, till the train enters the tunnel...

The whole HK MTR has 3G connectivity (even in tunnels) plus stations have free WiFi. The result is that there is nowhere to escape mobile phone calls (or more accurately listening to others' loud conversations).

The other phenomenon is that many people watch movies, play games or browse the net on their obligatory iPhones whilst on the MTR (tube).

I guess it's handy for looking at Google Maps etc but I'm not sure it's a development I particularly like.

If it doesn't work in the tunnels I am not sure what the point is. Certainly in the central London areas I don't think I am ever waiting more than two minutes for a tube.
