E-Mail to Text Message - MD
I need to send a long text quite urgently, but the recipient doesn't own a computer. For ease I have typed it in an e-mail and sent it to my phone in the belief that I could copy the message body and insert it in a text. It seems I can't or am I missing a trick. Help please.

MD

Forgot to say Android Motorola Defy

you will need to split it up into multiple texts, the limit for a text message is 160 characters.

But I can't copy the text Zero!!

The length is unimportant. MMS will do, but I just want to copy the message (email) body.

Does your network have an online SMS-sending facility? I try to send my texts using the O2 online text sending utility because as well as being easier to type they're free there, whereas they're not if I use my PAYG phone. (My phone isn't O2 but my broadband is.)

Print out message in a very plain typefce.
Take a photo of it with your phone and send the photo to them.

Now that 'Cars for Sale' has become 'Classified Ads' you might want to update

Or is it just temporary until it's sold? :)

The last phone I had that could only do 160 characters was my Nokia 3310. Even my 8210 could manage more than that.

Does not change the the fact that the limit for a text message is 160 characters. Your 8210 could only send 160 characters in a single SMS text message.

But it's the phone that needs to worry about that, not Martin, presumably.

On my HTC Desire if I 'long press' and then drag across the text (in Gmail) and then tap the highlighted area it copies the text to the clipboard. This can then be pasted into my SMS app by long pressing in the message body.

This may be HTC specific but I'm surprised if Motorola doesnt do the same.

There is a reason it's called a 'Phone' you know.

Since you have typed it via email, it is in your Sent Item folder.

Copy it from there [using computer]

Go to your phone network's website. They are very likely to have an option of sending texts from web (I use O2 and it has that option).

Just paste your stuffs. It will automatically broke into multiple messages.

Just send it from there.

Send a text from your computer using this site:

OP needs to send a long txt message though. That site is only good for 137 characters, it doesn't accept certain mobile numbers, and if the site is busy you won't be able to send it anyway.
