Plain Text or HTML - Ambo
If I am typing an email in Outlook 2007, how do I know if I am in Plain Text or HTML? How do I switch from one to the other?

Click options at the top of the message and it shows you. Also, if you are in plain text the option for bold, italic etc are greyed out and inaccessible.

You can change it permanently in the tools options dialogues somewhere.

HTML messages are generally written in any font other than courier (typewriter) font. Although it is still possible to use this font in HTML

Outlook 2007 displays plain text as courier font.

If a received message include pictures, it is either HTML or Rich Text.

To change your own default format in Outlook 2007: Choose Tools --> Options, and in the Options dialog box, select the Mail Format tab. From the Compose in This Message Format drop-down list, choose HTML, Plain Text, or Rich Text.

If you wish to change the format for a single e-mail message: In the Message window, click the Options tab. Then click the Plain Text, HTML, or Rich Text button.

My default is always plain text, clutters up mailboxes less and does not encourage space hungry pictures in a reply.
