 Excel temporary .tmp files - L'escargot
Just recently, temporary .tmp files have started appearing in my folder of Excel files. Out of curiosity I've tried opening them but I've never been able to. At the moment they're just a mild irritation to me and I simply delete them as soon as I've become aware of them.

(a) What causes them to appear?
(b) Are they harmful?
(c) Should I continue my current practice of deleting them as soon as I've become aware of them?
(d) How can I stop them?
