 'Amazon' SMS phishing - Manatee
While we are sharing scams, I had an SMS yesterday purporting to be from Amazon.

It appeared in my Amazon 'conversation' with a couple of other genuine SMS's from Amazon about previous deliveries, and originated from the same number, 07802 000332, which is the O2 messaging centre number.

It was well written, with no obvious errors, and to the effect that certain features of my account had been disabled; a link was provided to validate and restore all features.

The link was long but the country level domain in the middle of the string was .ly - Libya - not convincing.

Signing in as normal to my Amazon account revealed no messages or anything unusual so I just deleted the SMS.

There are references online to email phishing for Amazon accounts but not SMS.

The fact that it appeared in the Amazon conversation might well make it easier to fall for this one.

My mail provider is pretty good at spotting scams and spam and putting them in the Spam box. I say good, but not infallible of course..
