swmbo uses some sort of web app on the weightwatchers site for 'stuff' to to with 'tracking' and 'points', of which I know not, but I do know that on her laptop (Vista, IE8, twice as much memory as it used to have :-)) it just hangs with spinning cursor.

she has just, after three days of nudging, tried the same app from the main PC and lo, it works.
Where does one start on the laptop to find out what the issue might be ?

I assume one has rebooted the laptop, and not just resumed from hibernate?

It sounds like the cache is screwed, clear it all from the IE8 settings.

And iffy, no the answer is not to buy a Macbook.
