 Firefox - Skip
I have gone back to using Firedox as IE9 has proved to be a diaster on my 4 year old Dell laptop which is running Vista (no problem with IE9 on my Widows 7 Netbook).
My question is how do you delete the browsing history on Firefox ? Carrying out the usual Delete History.Cookies/Temp File etc action doesnt clear it.

click on history tab --> show all history --> select today or yesterday etc --> right click , delete.

Keep off the Frankie Vaughan and you wouldn't need to. :)

How did you know what i was getting up to ?

Don't think deleting the history will save you from prison. :)

Actually, that's a serious point.

I've been in court cases where all manner of 'deleted' info has been retrieved from computers.

A casual user like me couldn't do it, but there are expert people about who can.

If you wish to Delete your browsing History in Firefox on a daily basis, just configure the period of days it should have been retained to 0.

or just select private browsing from the tools menu!

The forensic tools to do this are easily obtained and quite simple to use. The trick is however accessing the disk without changing anything, and providing a clear chain of evidence handling.

It has to be said however, that there are also tools around that will erase the stuff never to be found again by anyone even with the most sophisticated tools. The one that defeats the IT forensic investigator the most tho is not to delete stuff, but to encrypt it with a robust tool.

...The one that defeats the IT forensic investigator...

That happened in a kiddie-porn case.

The punter was charged with the newish offence of refusing to disclose a computer password.

He was convicted and jailed for a short stretch.

It may be he knew the jail term for that offence was shorter than the term he would have got had they found out what he was up to.

It may also be he knew revealing the password would drop other paedophiles in it, and he was frightened of reprisals from them.

I always love recovering data for clients. The common was "I used the system recovery to get rid of a virus, but now I can't find my data" - how they didn't read all the warnings I don't know.

Anyway an hour letter they look quite happy when I show them all their pictures I have got back, but they look rather embarrassed to see I have also recovered all the porn images which were saved in the browsers cache!

As for windows passwords they are very easy to delete too. Although I ask a lot of questions if a client wants me to that.
