Yes but if you get stopped by the police or you have an accident it might cause problems because it is not road worthy. Also if it fails on a dangerious point (e.g they mark it as dangerious to drive) you could be a lot of trouble in the event of an accident.
Remember the MOT information is all on a database now and if they fail it ons say a tyre down to 1mm and wraped brake discs you would have no defence if you got caught driving it in that state.
Technicaly the old MOT will still be valid though :).
