www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number?

Just checked mine. No shocks but a paragon of clarity as to what you can drive. How do they know I wear glasses...?

IIRC there's a question on the application form. If, like me, you've worn glasses since a school eye check and applied for your provisional nearly 40yrs ago then would you remember?

I learned to drive in 1994. At that time I wore glasses for short sightedness. No mention of this on that website. And I have worn glasses since around 1987.

Well blow me down with a feather! I thought it was 4 years before speeding points expired which for me is next Spring but this site says they expired after 3 years.

Just checked mine and no reference to glasses. I have however worn them since Autumn 1971 and can (just) recall tickinig a box when applying for my provisional in 1976.

Test passed MAy 77.

Nor for me. I've worn them since I was 9. I certainly can't remember filling in the form that long ago though!

I note the start date is my 19th birthday. Was the provisional with pass certificate valid for 2yrs? That does ring a bell - I certainly passed while still only 17.
 Check Your Licence. - Bromptonaut
Different to mine BP. Valid from date for most categories is 26/05/77 - the date I passed the car test.

Only difference is the motorcycle categories with AM (under 50cc etc?) from date of issue of photo license and A (tri) from 19/01/13. I think the latter partly closes the oddity that driving cars like a Reliant or Morgan required a bike license under EU rules.

It doesn't recognise old numbers issued under the pink card system. It says mine is an invalid number format.

>> It doesn't recognise old numbers issued under the pink card system.

It recognised my number on my pink driving licence.
 Check Your Licence. - Bromptonaut
That's odd Cliff 'cos in my case at least number on my old pink license and the card is same

First five letters of my surname|scrambled d.o.b|forename initials plus a digit which I beleive indicates gender and two further check letters.

Something like:

BROMP 611182 SM9TQ

My licence shows I passed my test 10661966.It expires in three years time.

Nul points. :-)

I have wore/still do wear glasses when I passed my test, but didn't when I applied for my provisional.

Do I need to inform DVLA of this? There is no mention on my licence that I wear glasses.

Yes, just like that. But there's something about it it doesn't accept. Not the NI no. or postcode, they seem to be OK
Now I'm worrying whether I ought to write and check whether I still exist.

>> Yes, just like that.

Mine is a pink paper licence and the number worked fine.

I think it would niggle me if it didn't and I would have to check.

Mine is a pink licence. It has one digit wrong on the postcode (Since 1986 - I know I should sort it, but.....)

If I enter the (erroneous) postcode as on the licence, it won't find it.

If I enter the correct postcode for my address, it *does* find it.

I wonder if it is checking the postcode from the NI record, rather than the licence.

Are your NI and licence records the same?

Doesn't it worry anyone that the NI computer and the VOSA computer share information?

(Just assembling the tin foil hat!)

Just checked my entitlements and it seems I need eyesight correction even for tractors and mowers :-)

Must've ticked a box of some sort back in '82 when I applied for my provisional I suppose.

Is there a website for checking what postcode a NI number is attached to? Let me guess - it needs a valid Driving Licence Number to work?
:)

They are valid for 3 years, but remain on the licence for 4 years.

I don't appear to have one of those sections so I presume that I can't have any.

I keep wondering how many of those who pronounce on the gross inferiority of the Chinese clone have driven both vehicles (and preferably crashed them).

Personally I think the Evoque is a silly looking thing. But does the Chinese version just fall apart when it's driven? Is it noisier or slower than the 'real' one?

Big 4wds are crude rough things anyway. If the Chinese one has 4wd that works and only costs half as much, it may actually be a bit of a bargain.

Blokes down the pub aren't always totally wrong, but on the whole they talk balderdash about this sort of thing. A proper Land Rover may be what you would buy if you could afford it, but the clone may be a very acceptable second-best. Inferior doesn't mean utterly useless.

Was reading about this ' Evoke ' on another thread recently....now where was it ?

Bristol Cream or Emva, Lud ?

You need to check your licence AC, and not scatter-post random subjects on any old thread.

It's hard to beat a nice glass of Blue Nun.

A pint of Bombay Sapphire , Schweppes Tonic and ice beats Blue Nun.. and after a couple of pints I would beat anyone...

I know that, I've made a few:)

He's hiding behind the door now too embarrassed to come in.

Come on Lud, man up!

I haven't denied anything Pat. I make mistakes all the time.

Hiding behind the door indeed!

Good cartoon in the new Private Eye of some firemen who have just bashed a front door in. Their leader is saying to the shocked householder: 'Hi. Is Dave in?'

Heh heh... it's a bit like being that householder here sometimes.
