Just witnessed an MOT test, at a specialist centre, on SWMBO Getz (first test at 15,000 miles). Not seen a test for decades and the degree of automation was impressive.
The machine which shook the suspension sidaways reminded me of a terrier with a rabbit.
The brake testing seemed to be very extended and was repeated all round as far as I could see. Was worried though about the new tyres locking up on the rollers.
The whole car was lifted up at each end by what looked like a bare steel bar- that made me cringe as there was no apparent protection for the underbody. The revving for the emissions test seemed a lot higher than the 2000-3000rpm mentioned on the test report.
Passed OK as I hoped. But sheer vehicular torture!

When I took my first Fiesta to the MOT by the end of it the floor had turned purple, where bits of paint had fallen off the car during the plastic hammer test!

you havent seen a diesel smoke test.
I suggest if its your car, you find a convenient place to go and hide, you really dont want to hear that torture going on.
