A 205? Pffff.

I'd rather have a Metro for real money.

I had an early 205 GTi…( B211 UCP) the 1.6 with 105 horse I think. Drew quite a lot of attention I seem to recall, which somewhat irked my future MiL who had just bought a new Volvo.
She was a snob.

My dear ole Ma had a 206 auto. It was basically the 1.6 Gti without the badge and go faster stripes. I did Bristol to Walton on Thames in 90 minutes. Q car Rocket ship it was.

Definitely didn’t have any go faster stripes or any other adornments in standard trim.
Silver it was.
Loved the shape of the 3 door 205....

That’s reminded me that at the time I was into windsurfing. strapped a big, heavy board onto the roof rack and drove down the M1 to Wakefield every weekend where I was a member of ‘Pugneys Pirates’. The mast extended a good few feet beyond the bonnet.

The airflow under the board, and the car weighing very little, caused several brown trouser moments as I reached V1, rotate speed on the M1, which was quite low.
Quite a knocking shop Pugneys was back in those days.

Half the Corsas and Saxos in Basingstoke look like that.
