While swearing doesn't particularly upset me (except when done gratuitously or persistently) - and in fact I even do it myself sometimes - I do think there is a nicer ambiance here than most of the other social media I look at,which I think is due to the fact that our posters have to consider what they are saying, which to some degree becomes self moderating.
So on those grounds I'd be inclined to keep it how it is, despite the frustrations it causes us all sometimes.
With my mods hat on - I moderate on other forums which have less restrictive filters and while most people have learned that swearing looks plain daft on a forum, new members often seem to feel the need, maybe to make an impression. So it increases my workload, as I have to read each post, as there is a good chance something unpleasant can bypass the filters.
Thanks for the heads-up on those items which get through the filter :-)
btw I'm not a policy wonk, I'm just an enforcer :-)
