Just an observation really.
I like laptops. I know they don't have the power of a good desktop but their convenience makes up for that.
I am noticing an unpleasant trend though. Laptop batteries are no longer easily replacable.
My work Lenovo had a new swapable battery and in its 5 year life it had 3 new batteries all easily replacable as they were separate packs. It was used a lot on battery.
The replacement laptop, a HP has its battery sealed within the laptop, so a replacement will require a visit to an office to get it sorted. Not a change for the better IMHO.
The other issue I see with laptops is difficult to replace power pins. These can often break. On a Dell that I had the connector was attached to the motherboard by a ribbon cable so swapping it out was easy. My lad's laptop's power connector is soldered directly to the motherboard so replacing it is going to cost.
