For all Wotspur's frustrations I think the need is incontrovertible; people cannot be expected to go on breathing NoX and other filth. My son, who has asthma and eczema, complains about both conditions flaring up in Central London.
Aside from Lygonos's suggestion of a low emission vehicle London has excellent public transport. Unless, like Runfer, you need a car for your professional kit there's really no excuse for taking one into the CC zone.
As you might expect I'd also advance the case for using a bike. OK, a Brompton is too pricey for an occasional user but the Boris Bikes are easy to ride, cheap as chips and available everywhere.
