We got rid of some bulky stuff via eBay with 'Collection Only'; and had good success, but also tried FB marketplace for local free ads to get rid of stuff quickly, and we have bought some good bargains this way ourselves.
Being sensible people, if we want something listed on there we go back straight away, say we want to buy it at the price listed and how fast can we come and give you the cash to take it away?
Sometimes we miss the boat by a few minutes and are surprised that people don't reply out of courtesy to say it is already sold, but hey.
It turns out that a lot of the public are not like us......
The issues were the number of questions and hassle involved in getting to close a transaction!
Was selling a big glass door display cabinet and gave the dimensions. "Will it fit in my car?" is the first question. I don't know.... Give me a clue as to what car and why not go and look at it with a tape measure?! Can you deliver? When can you deliver? urm, no, I have not offered to delivery, I have offered collection only...
Then lots of faffing around "can I send you the money via a transfer next week?" Can't collect tomorrow, but maybe in two weeks. ArGH!!!
Nah, too much hassle now. If it is too bulky to post then I will take it to the charity shop and gift-aid it. If I can post it / parcel it then I stick it on eBay and mainly stick it on at 99p to start and see where it goes. As long as we cover the postage cost in the listing I view everything else as profit.
What I am amazed at is the amount of rubbish people bother listing. Old worn out training shoes for 50p. Really!!!???!!!
