>>I asked the Service Advisor at a large Ford dealer (Ringways Garages Ltd in Doncaster) about my 1999 2 litre Focus and he said that the shortest mileage that they had seen a failure at was 125,000 miles. At the time mine had done about 85,000 and he said it would be wasting money to change it at that mileage.
I had a rattle on my Focus. The local Ford dealer workshop foreman diagnosed it as drop link ball-joints on the front anti-roll bar. He then added "I don't know why they fit them, they're not necessary" in reference to anti-roll bars.
I've had other serious problems mis-diagnosed by other experienced, main dealer staff and no longer trust anything they say.
