A council gritting lorry crashed into a house after careering through four gardens and hitting two parked cars in Cambridgeshire.

The lorry driver and a man who was inside one of the cars were taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident in Toyse Lane, Burwell.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which happened at 11:50 GMT.

Cambridgeshire County Council said it would co-operate with the police inquiry.

A police spokesman said the injured man was in a stationary car struck by the lorry.

Both the man and the lorry driver - a 44-year-old old man - were free from the wreckage before firefighters arrived.

The council said it would not speculate on what caused the crash.
