Have more famous people died in 2016 than any other year?
Back in April 2016 Tim Harford tried to work out if more famous people were dying this year compared to previous years. When we looked at the number of BBC obituaries from the first three months of the year, the answer appeared to be yes. There was a jump from only five between January and late March 2012 to a staggering 24 in the same period this year - an almost five-fold increase. But now 2016 is drawing to an end Tim takes another look to see if it really has been such an unusual year.
