Bought a 2nd one a few weeks back, love it
Came with a 3,000 miles and OR 3 month warranty. I had it checked by the AA and mechanically it all seemed fine.
Now, tomorrow morning I know, Although I allow the coil light to go out, it's a diesel 06, unless it turns over and connects first time, which it rarely does, it'll be a nightmare. I have to keep turning over for 30secs before it fires up........but I can leave the car all day, and it'll start first time no problem.
Then occasionally whilst driving along, the radio just stops and it comes up with the word Safe......just turning the engine off, doesn't resolve the problem.......getting out, locking the dooor sometimes does, say 7/10 times, solve it .
Finallly, if I open the car with the key in the lock, all 4 windows go down.
Last Friday, it was seen by a Seat dealer, who suggested they'd reset a computer and see how it goes, otherwise it would take an empty car and a test costing 800+ to see what the problem is.
Any thought suggestions, anyone know of a VW/Seat electronics specialist in Surrey ?
Cheers

Apparently there are 13 earth points on the Alhambra, I haven't a diagram (posting from phone) but I'd try and find one and start checking that.

Did you buy from a trader? What are they suggesting?

Sounds like you have found out why previous owner traded it in!
I would be tempted to contact them. They have nothing to lose or gain by not telling you the truth.
It may be they had no issues. Alternatively you may find that it's been in and out garages constantly trying to get to the root of the problem and they eventually got fed up and traded it in?

Before you jump in at the deep end with massive expense,I would first check the wiring and connections around the battery area. There is an aux fuse box on top of the positive battery terminal and a few earth spur leads connected to the neg earth lead. Not too sure what computer reset will do??

Thanks peeps for the answers, I'm up near where the previous owner lived tomorrow, so got nowt to lose by asking.
To answer what will resetting the computer will do........well your right, it achieved nothing

I'd say you have more than one problem. The starting is mechanical or glow plugs. The radio/windows/door issue is the convenience/body* module (module itself, connections, earth)

*or whatever the ruddy thing is referred to this year

I'd say take it back to the supplying garage. Sounds like you know why it was traded in.
