Driver dies in coach crash on icy road
One driver was killed and at least seven other people were injured after two coaches collided in icy conditions.
The vehicles collided on the B1248 near Driffield, East Yorkshire, Humberside Police said.
The driver of one of the coaches was killed in the accident, a spokesman for Jim Bell Travel, which ran the coach, said.
The spokesman said the coach had been taking around 30 Czech migrant workers from Hull to the Malton Bacon Factory in East Yorkshire.
Two coaches were involved in the incident on the B1248 between Tibthorpe and Wetwang, near Driffield.
Directors of the Jim Bell Travel coach said they wished to offer their "sincere heartfelt condolences" to the driver's family.
They said the driver, who has not been named, had four children.
A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "It does appear the weather may have played a part in this road traffic incident.
"It is icy in various patches across the force, particularly in East Yorkshire in the Wolds. We've had lots of reports of ice patches on the roads. Some of the roads in the area are treacherous, and that goes for roads across the whole force area."
Elsewhere, Britain was bracing itself for Arctic weather conditions as snow swept in from the north.
