It's not the result 48% of people wanted, but the UK voted to leave the European Union during last month's referendum.

Elizabeth Hurley opted to leave - and has now slammed many of the remain supporters as "mean-spirited" and "elitist".

In her column for The Spectator, she praised Twitter and Facebook followers for helping to bring her cat back and said she will "never be rude about social media again" - before ranting about anti-Brexit voters.

"I will, however, allow myself to be rude about the hordes of post-Brexit whingers who claim to love democracy but object violently to anyone who disagrees with them.

"Bring it on you ranting luvvies, fat cat bankers, and multinational corporations. Continue to alienate the humble voice of Middle England. Knock yourselves out calling us ill-educated Neanderthals and spit a bit more venom and vitriol our way.

"You are showing yourselves in all your mean-spirited, round-headed, elitist glory, and what an unappealing lot you are."

Hurley implored her followers to vote leave in June by sharing a photo of her posing naked with just a Union Jack cushion.
