Caven Vines | Advocate general for Scotland | Human rights commissioner | Dr Adrian Needs

In two articles (Ukip stands by candidate despite links with BNP, 25 April, page 6, early editions; Ukip candidates may have BNP or criminal past, Farage admits, 26 April, page 21), we stated that Caven Vines, a candidate for Ukip in Rotherham, had close links to the British National party. This was incorrect. We apologise to Mr Vines for the error.

Lord Wallace is the advocate general for Scotland, not the advocate director for Scotland as we had it in two articles about Vince Cable, the secretary of state for business, putting pressure on Scottish legal authorities to decide whether to prosecute former directors of Royal Bank of Scotland (Cable pressure, 1 May, page 2; Legal officer angry over Cable RBS intervention, 2 May, page 31).

Nils Muiznieks was misdescribed as "the EU's human rights commissioner" in an article about the far-right Golden Dawn party's plans to distribute Easter treats to "Greeks only"; he is the Council of Europe's human rights commissioner (Far-right food rally raises tensions in Athens, 2 May, page 21).

The forensic psychologist Dr Adrian Needs is from the University of Portsmouth, not the University of Plymouth as we said in a piece about changes to jail rules announced this week (Why prison uniforms are a bad idea, 1 May, page 3, G2).
