Two men have been arrested, including one on suspicion of dangerous driving, after a video showed a car speeding at more than 200mph in West Sussex.

The footage was posted on social media last month and shows someone in the vehicle filming the speedometer, which quickly goes from 65mph to 201mph.

It was filmed on the M23 southbound between Gatwick and Crawley at some point during the coronavirus lockdown, Sussex Police said.

Officers tracked down the car, a black Audi RS6, and have now arrested two men.

A 38-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released under investigation.

A second man, also aged 38, from Horsham, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and released under investigation until 9 July.

Chief Inspector Michael Hodder, of the Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit, said: "Speeding is one of the four most common causes of fatal and serious injury collisions, and we will not tolerate these offences on our roads.
