Wheeler Dealers stars fought back ‘tears’ as new details emerge over stolen classic Ford

Wheeler Dealers hosts Mike Brewer and Marc Priestley have opened up on the “heartbreaking” moment their restored classic Mk1 Ford Fiesta was stolen by thieves.

The duo had worked hard to bring a Ford Fiesta Mk1 back to its best before the model was nicked a day before its big unveiling back in June.

The pair said they had “tears” in their eyes moments after realising the car had been taken from their hotel.

The restoration of the Fiesta is set to be aired on tonight's first episode of the new Wheeler Dealers series.

After repairing the model the duo had planned to take it to a Ford festival in Yorkshire to show off their hard work to enthusiasts.

In a new video uploaded to X, formerly Twitter, Priestley explained: “We were so proud of it... We went to bed in the hotel all excited about the next day when everyone was going to get to see it for the first time.

“And as many of you will now know, we woke up in the morning and it had been stolen. And it was heartbreaking.”

Mr Brewer added: “We devoted so much of our time and attention way above what we normally do on a restoration or a build, into this car because we knew how important this car was.

“There’s only four of them left in the country so this was a really important car for us. To wake up in the morning and find out it had been stolen was destroying. It destroyed us.

“And then to stand in front of 1,000 people at our one festival we had arranged and tell it to them, announce it to them, there were tears. It was really tough.”

The duo had decided to restore the 1970s model because the American car giant announced the end of the Fiesta brand earlier this year.

After the car was stolen, the two hosts issued a passionate plea on special media in a desperate bid to find the car.

Former Top Gear host Richard Hammond also weighed in by posting his own online plea. However, last week Mr Brewer admitted that the model was still undiscovered on the eve of the new series airing.

X user @chrisbedford17 asked: “Did u find your stolen car after?” (sic). But, Mr Brewer simply replied: “still missing” in a blow to his 148,000 followers and fans of the series.

In the new clip, Mr Priestley added: “It was a hugely emotional day and it has been ever since. For anyone that’s asking for an update on the situation, unfortunately, we haven't got one. It’s still missing.

“West Yorkshire Police are still looking at it but so far have come up with nothing so if anyone sees it do let us know.”

But, the team have not given up just yet within a final roll of the dice in a last-ditch effort to be reunited with their Mk1 Fiesta. Mr Brewer remarked: “£5,000 reward out of our pocket just to get the car back, no questions asked.”
