3/My Grandfather was workshop manager at a BMC dealer in Ilford, and had the civilian version that I was sometimes driven around in.

1 A rally prepared Mini and later a bright pink Mk 1 Escort.
Driven by members of the Metropolitan Police Motor Club, so I think they count as a police cars.

I was involved with a company delivering vehicles. I'd dropped one off and was awaiting pick up and a police car turned up. It was being moved from one place to another and being used to collect us drivers. I sat in the back and as we passed through a busy town, I put my hands behind my back as though handcuffed. This produced a lot of interest outside, until the driver turned round and asked me to desist.

Fascinating evening, and I was so impressed with the car I bought one (blue 2.6l)

The first time out we were in an unmarked Rover V6 which was also a lot of fun. (And I bought one of those too!!)
