 Audi A3 + S3 - 08 1998 rear wiper stuck - Hacko
Was cleaning interior including wiping steering wheel stalks. Got out of car and noticed rear wiper in upright position (half way across sweep area). Won't move on switch operation. Any thoughts, please, on how to reset, or what I may have accidentally done? Is there a separate fuse for the rear function?

The fuse has to be starting point for any investigation. Handbook should tell you what, if anything, is on same fuse; are those items u/s also?

Either not closed the rear hatch properly, or not fully raised the rear hatch window?

Common issue across many makes... in images of many Alfa 156 estates I considered the wiper was stuck somewhere across its arc.

I think on your A3 the fuse covers front and rear.

Corrosion can cause the spindle to stick which can take out fuse, relay or motor. Motor can also suffer water ingress causing all sorts of odd issues like it being on all the time with the ign.

yes, fuse ok - front wipers work fine. Wonder if there's a resetting procedure. Thanks all

It isn't stuck in some sort of blade replacement mode ? There are quirky things like that across the VAG group that are invoked by obscure sequences of events - circle the car widdershins twice, turn ignition on for five seconds whilst holding stalk B in position 4 and singing 'Deutschland uber alles' backwards

Doh, a(nother) senior moment, gents - hatch wasn't fully closing! Rear wipe now restored and parks properly again. Thanks for all replies.

no, not free ... am now using WD40 on brain. But, far more importantly, should I (we) use such sexist words as "gents" these days of super sensitivity? "Folks" much safer, surely!
