Diesel in a Petrol? That's hard to do.

These things are clearly jinxed. Remember Ireland a couple of years ago?

I did it in a Bedford CF van once.
Probably for exactly the same reason, an assumption that anything that big and clunky had to be a diesel.
In my defence that van sounded like a ruddy diesel regardless of which fuel it was filled with.

Whoops!
I would have thought that it would be designed to run on all fuel types like some tanks can.

There was a story in The Guardian years ago. 'reposted' from a police newsletter.
A North Yorkshire Police diesel 4*4 was inadvertently filled with petrol; flat-bedded to a commercial garage, drained and re-primed etc
PC Woodentop is instructed to collect vehicle and return it to HQ. PC W collects vehicle, notes low fuel light is on and drives it to forecourt where he fills tank.
With petrol...........
