Wiki tells me that Peugeot has been existence since 1830 but an advert in one of today's papers asks to help them celebrate their 200th Anniversay. Can anyone shed light on the early history of the company? It obviously hasn't been cars for all the 200 years!!!
The “Peugeot Frères” company was officially founded in 1810 when the Peugeot family bought a cereal mill at Sous Cratet and set about capitalising on the Industrial Revolution by converting it into a steel factory.
Actually there has been an animated Peugeot ad on this website. Runs through a hand-operated coffee grinder through a bicycle to a modern Peugeot car, cutting out all the good ones. That's about the size of it isn't it, the Peugeot story?
I currently have a Peugeot bike-built in Bedford with parts from Canada(and Japanese gears).I used to ride a Peugeot scooter(125cc)which would leave Lambrettas and Vespas of much greater cc. standing, tho' it didn't handle very well-tank slappers etc..
