70 should be average, at least it is when I am busy, plus my dads car is being welded so I will need to do shop runs etc.
Old cars in order of bought
Jan 2007 - Fiesta 1.1 MK3 N reg, had 101k on the clock, sold at 104k when the engine died sold in Oct 2007. My dad ended up using this.
Oct 2008 - Fiesta 1.3 MK4 N reg - 67200, sold at 67500 - it was a shed, I rushed into it with all the excitement of just passing my test!
March 2009 - Corsa 1.2 16v V reg, bought at 81k, sold at 83k when the head gasket went.
The Fiesta (dads) had 62,000 when we bought it, so he has put quite a bit of miles on it.

A 1998 Micra with a 125,000 miles on the clock.
It should last until the MOT in December when I'll throw it away and get another one. I'll have had a car for three years and it will have cost me less than 900 pounds.

12 months and 6,000 miles - lower than expected due to the severe winter, seemingly forgotten in our distant memories.

Wow there seem to be a high amount of Kia drivers on this forum! It must be a good advert for Kia.

'97 Ford Escort Ghia X 1.8 petrol manual 109,999 miles (as I pulled onto the driveway 20 minutes ago!)
I could list the start/finish mileages on all 30-odd cars I've owned and a similar number of vans/lorries I've driven, but I won't. Suffice to say that from 1994 to 2007 I racked up circa 100,000 miles p.a., but have dropped to 15k a year as I'm no longer doing it for a living.

K'I'A make a crdi Zero? whats the zero, the horsepower? Its that like coke zero, all the taste taken away?

Zero it would have been great if you came on Saturday and had a ride in the Kia, you could have told Old Navy all this while he was driving :).
|
I doubt you would have got home ratts.
|
Neither do I, but I might have at least got out of car without a black eye :).
|
Glad you are a convert Rattle, maybe a KIA when you have worn out the Panda? We only deal in virtual violence so Zero would be quite safe. :-)

It would all depend on what I need in four or five years time :). Certainly if the finance was right I would be happy to have one. It all depends what is out then too :).
|
>> It would all depend on what I need in four or five years time :).
>>
Will the Panda be run in by then ?
|
it will be due for its 12k miles service.
|
As I am sure you know its due to a service every year anyway. My mates Panda has only done 4000 and he's had that over a year.
I am in walking distance to all my local shops so I don't even need the car for that purpose. I have also been quiet so not been using the car as much as planned. I don't regret buying it though, my blood preasure feels a lot lower now.
|
It will probably have about 15,000 miles on it if I don't crash it by then!.
It all depends what happens with my parents finances but the Fiesta is being welded up tomorrow ready for another years life. If it can then pass another MOT next year I might be able to sell the Panda to my dad so it will then be kept in the family for many many years. My dad keeps his cars until the engine either blows or it is no longer possible to keep up with the welding.
I aim to get it up to 700 miles by the end of the week if I have jobs or not, just to get some use out of it :).

2009 Mercedes E220 CDI, 23k. 2nd owner bought with only 3k on the clock. So far a very good car.
Past:
2000 Mazda 626 diesel - 179k. Good car. Bought at 54k. Diesel injector went after visit to garage for something unrelated. Expensive to repair so part exchanged.
2000 Subaru Impreza Turbo - 40k. Bought new. Expensive to run. Sold for cheaper Mazda when I married.
1990 VW Golf Driver mk2 - 169k. Bought new. Written off when a school minibus decided to overtake a HGV on a blind bend, on a steep hill in the rain and I happened to be going the other way... I still miss this car.

2006 55-reg Subaru Legacy: 122,000.
I'm delighted to see that it's the car on here that has clocked up miles at the fastest rate, even if only 16/17k have been in the last 18 months that I've owned it. (Considering that it never goes anywhere during the week, and about half the weekends of the year it only pootles a few miles, I think that's quite a good mileage!)
And indeed I think there are only a couple of Mondeos, a W124 and Cliff's sheds that have done more miles in total.
|
>> I'm delighted to see that it's the car on here that has clocked up miles

I did 70,000 in about 20 months in my Mondeo and 70,000 more in the subsequent 80 months.

Thats impressive AshT, you've got 2 Espaces to do that mileage!

Some of these mileages are a testament to modern engineering quality or modern lubricants, not sure which, or if it is both.

Indeed so! We managed to keep a lid on things by doing a lot of stuff ourselves, but we still spent a worrying amount. Still, it'll be all paid off in nine months - we've decided not to treat ourselves at all so that we can pay it off as quickly as we can.

Being free of all the debt will be a treat in itself.
Wise move.
|
>> Wise move.
We think so ;-)
I'm paid weekly and at the moment all I see of my wages is £30 for petrol and a few quid for spends. It's a bit of a bind but worth the inconvenience.
Apologies to the OP for the thread-drift...

Remind me to tell you one day about getting married and being skint!
|
They've both been looked after (at least since we bought them); regularly serviced and oil/filter changes every 6000 miles. The older one - mine - has done mostly motorway miles as well which helps I think.
|
I too had an Espace (1988F) which did over 120,000 miles without major problems: I can remember 123456 coming up on the odometer.
Renaults of this era, and in the 1990s like Ash's, were mostly reliable. Quality went downhill after about 2000 but getting better again now I believe.
I'd guess that most of the cars mentioned above with six-figure mileages have had regular oil changes.
