Was in Zero's manor yesterday, and then went down to Portsmouth, lots of traffic on the A3 between the M25 and Guildford on the way down and around Petersfield on the way back, came off and through Midhurst (PeterS' neck of the woods?) and Haslemere. Anyway went through the Hindhead tunnel in sport mode with the windows open and changed down a couple of gears, sounds great, though a bit childish I guess ...

I was not breaking the limit, rather in a low gear (3rd of 8 IIRC), great reverbs, and at lower revs 2000 to 3000 nice burbling on the over run.

Did you peg a bit of cardboard on your bike making a noise against the spokes when you were kid?

He he though no, I used to time trial and hill climb in my teens, that was around the Surrey hills, so it was all about smooth and efficient, though cyclist these days have it so good. I had a reasonable bike though the forks broke, I didn't have much money so I stripped down my dad's early '50s Raleigh and built up my bits onto that and raced it, 5 speed only, still managed to hill climb and do 10 miles in about 25 minutes on the roads around the reservoirs.

I confess that I tend to gun the Harley a bit when I go through it.

This is on my 'to do' list :-)

I went through the tunnel in a E series estate recently, it did not occur to me to open a window to sample the exhaust fumes. I would not open a window in my Jazz either, it would be smooth and quiet as always. :-)
