A loss? I'm not sure. Awful smelly, noisy, smoky things.

I have been on it. Its actually quite scary in the water when the Thames is a bit choppy.

I seem to recall Duck Tours in Liverpool... think I saw one last year when we went on a WI trip....they advertised for people to fill empty seats on the coach and it seemed like a cheap way to have a day on the lash in a different city. Some fantastic pubs!

They used to have the DUKWs in Liverpool but the tours ended some time ago. Didn't help when one sank....

They tried to bring them back but turned down for safety reasons.

I am at a loss to understand how these were ever MCA coded for public use. Not only were they essentially unsuited by design to carrying fee paying folks on the water all of them were bodged up heaps of rusty junk with welded plates on plates on rust.

It seems their crossover between vehicle and boat confused the authorities and they were poorly regulated from the waterborne perspective.

Each time there was a problem the potential for loss of lives was only narrowly avoided.

The Queen had been on that not long before it sank. I wonder if she can swim?

One's staff would come to One's rescue, surely?

Those contraptions do look rather basic, not sure I would have gone on it.

It's very sad. But they were never seaworthy even when they were made so it's a jolly good thing really. Odd that it's not the seaworthiness that's sinking them.

It's probably a tribute to GMC that they still actually work at all given that their design life was probably less than sixty months never mind sixty years.

I remember going on the ones at Mablethorpe when I was a kid in the early 1970's.
