17mm 3-branch chip in windscreen, needs fixing - repair OK? Any experience of such?

thats not a chip its a bullseye
most repairers will refuse as its too big,ask an independent to have a go if its not in your eyeline but he will tell you its on a no guarantee as the screen might crack as he tries to open the hole up prior to injection

Not related to your chip, but 12 months ago the insurance's approved repairer came out to do a 5ml round chip with 2 branches on far passenger side. He said he couldnt repair as it was too near the bottom of windscreen. I wasnt getting it replaced and has not got any bigger in a year. Suprising as the screen is 12 years old and I assumd glass weakens over time.

Knickers. I suppose I should try an "independent", because if he cracks it, well - it's a new screen in any case. Who's an "independent"? Not Autoglass, I guess?
