What you do not want to see in the washing machine - helicopter
SWMBO put my jeans through the washing machine yesterday. The machine was beeping to start the spin cycle and as she was not around I put it onto spin ,pressed start and looked down to see the transponder key for the CRV just disappearing into the 1600 rpm spin cycle..... I had forgotten to remove it from the key pocket.

15 minutes later I removed the key, opened it up, removed the battery and stuck the rest in aTupperware box of rice overnight.

Reassembled it at midday and it worked fine...but not an experience I want to repeat .I do have a spare key but getting a replacement coded is a costly business.

Anyone done the same? In my defence I am recovering from an opration to remove my gall bladder last week and am not feeling on top form.I could have done without the aggro.

I can't remember the number of times I had to remove the drum to recover the under wiring from SWMBOs bras.
The noise was an unbelievable screech - and the noise from the drum wasn't much quieter!

This is how our old washing machine died. The wire sliced the door rubber seal clean in two like a Stanley knife, then presumably became jammed in the spin cycle, and the drum bearings collapsed. The machine was toast.

And all she was worried about was her bra. :)

Yep. That’s about the size of it.

Done the same, bar the rice. Just put it on the radiator and new battery fitted the next day.

Seems to be a common thing to do.

The rice tip came from the internet car key specialists . Radiator was not recommended.

Anyway the key is still working and the car in the meantime has had a full service and two new tyres on the rear and is driving like a dream. Put the new Dunlops on the back as I had put on the front two years ago at £18 cheaper all in than Kwik Fit charged in 2017 by using Asda and a local fitter who I know. Around £230 the pair. The original Michelins from the rear had managed over 41 k miles..

Have not had the bill yet for the service and new discs on front but Andy is always reasonable and I have used him for years..

Mrs Dave_ has a fairly robust zip-up fabric mesh bag for putting hers in to protect both them and the washing machine. Works a treat.
