The side windows I can get at easily by opening the doors, the hatchback window I can get at easily by opening the hatch, but cleaning the inside of the front window is difficult. I wish front windows hinged outwards from the bottom to make the inside face easily accessible from outside the car.

One for those who like polishing chrome methinks!!

...Like this:...

Land Rover screens folded the other way - flat onto the bonnet.

Yes, the car cleaning job I least like. and with a saloon the back window is a real pain. It's best to fold the seats down and sit with my legs in the boot. Gets the head restraints out of the way too.

...a saloon the back window is a real pain...

The CC3 is the worst of all worlds.

The inside of the back window gets extra dirty because of the folding roof, and access is poor because it's a coupe 2+2 body.

Last time I cleaned it, I had the roof half open.

But you have to be very careful doing that because after a few minutes whatever is holding the roof up stops doing so without warning, and it flops gently shut.

Would be very easy to have your arm trapped in the metalwork when that happens.

I believe the dealers prop the roofs open to work on them.

Ive never found it difficult to do windscreens, you lot are soft :-)

The hardest windows are rear windows on coupes without a hatchback such as the BMW 6-Series and Jag XK8 as you have to perch on the rear seats, usually a squeeze at the best of times in such cars, then get your palm flat with what is usually a very shallow and deep window, liable to pinch fingers at its base.

Whilst trying hard not to break any heated rear screen elements!!

are ideal for window cleaning and are reduced to £1 in Tesco and Asda and Sainsbury (I think)

A little vinegar added and they clean to a streak and lint free finish with minimal effort and fold up to store easily..

Very impressed...I bought two - last of the big spenders.

Every streak free product I have used leaves.... streaks. Not visible at the time of course. They show up a day or two later when the sun catches the window at the right angle :-(

"when the sun catches the window at the right angle"

Especially at this time of year (when the sun is out, that is). I've often thought I'd got the glass clean, only for the streaks or film appear later...

and whenever I open a window I think I'll have to do that bit that goes into the seal next time I wash the car!

I've always found the Autoglym glass cleaner (the earlier version in pale green) the best product of its type I've ever used.

The OP is elderly and suffers with Arthritis, that's why he submitted the post.

I'd accept "getting on a bit" but not "elderly"!

For one reason or another, some people no longer have the bodily flexibility to clean the inside of windscreens.

Try doing the inside of a Beetle windscreen! Murder!

Women discovered mop extensions decades ago...

It would appear (some) men don't have the brains or nous to use similar to clean inside car windows..

Piece of cake... shows you lot do no housework - chauvinists..

...Try doing the inside of a Beetle windscreen! Murder!...

Wondered what you meant for a moment.

An original Beetle would be ever so easy, the current one a lot less so.

The CC3 is hard work because the screen is quite steeply raked.

It wasn't much easier doing the steeply-raked back window of a K-reg Cavalier saloon I once bought - kneeling on the back seat, resting my chin on the seat back between the headrests, reaching to clean the very base of the glass and then inhaling the distinct aroma of someone else's stale sick from the shelf... :(

I bought something like this, except mine is triangular which works really well. Recommended, £6 delivered from fleabay.

I find the easiest way to clean inside the windscreen is to stand next to the car, with either the door or front window open. I can then reach in to polish most of the windscreen from each side of the car. I can reach to the middle quite easily, with minimal twisting. Certainly much easier than cleaning the 'screen while sat in the drivers seat.

Thanks AlastairW, I'll give it a try.

I swallowed my pride yesterday and got 'er indoors to clean the inside of the windscreen and the top of the fascia. She's still flexible enough to do such tasks. For the time being, problem solved.
