Just down the road from me in a local woodland car park...pressed the wrong peddle apparently..

Blooming EV tree huggers…

Easily done.
Friend of Mrs B did it in a Zoe. Both it and car parked in front went through neighbours wall.

I can understand maybe hitting a brake of an automatic thinking it’s a clutch of a manual.
But the furthest right pedal is always the accelerator?

Strangely as of yesterday morning its still there.

Stolen?
In the last 30 years I have reported 3 cars dumped.
Police "Why do you think they are stolen"
"Ignition barrel hanging down and wires hanging out from what would be a radio/ CD player"
None damaged like the Audi and all a lot older!
None recently, probably due to key coding etc

Tell that to scores of oldies who have mashed it down thinking its a brake.

One assumes oldies can make the same error in a manual with precisely the same result.
The three dominant errors in switching auto/manual are:
- failing to depress clutch when coming to a halt
- failing to select a lower gear until the car starts to kangaroo
- hitting the brake pedal having mistaken it for a clutch.

Few weeks ago get a call from the missus. Her Beetle is broken down at end of street and won’t start.
I walk down, get in, start the car and drive it home.
She had been driving my automatic X1 the day before. Her Beetle is manual.
You start my car with a foot on the brake. You start hers with a foot on the clutch.
She had literally driven 3 miles home through stop start traffic, pulled into our street, had to stop to let a car pass and stalled the car and then couldn’t start it.
She drove a manual all the way until she had to stop for that car and then her brain told her she was in an automatic.

Had same issue collecting my Skoda after it's stay at the dealers premises and having auto loan cars.
Pressed the brake instead of the clutch to start.
