MIL 2014 Hyundai needs battery changed. I am anticipating she doesn’t have the radio code.
I have a power pack for jump starting cars. If I attach that to the positive and negative leads before removing the existing battery, will that keep enough power in the system to maintain radio code until I connect the new battery up?

Should do, I always used to keep a car 'live' with jump leads to a spare battery or donor car when changing s battery.
Just keep the,now loose positive terminal away from any earth once removed.

You can do it that way , but be careful the leads don’t get in the way and short out . Don’t think the radio will be coded .

Do people still nick radios? Obviously if you've got a super hi tech upgrade fitted, but as every car now comes with a radio as standard and I should think the market for used ones is pretty small.

Plenty of vehicles still use security coded radios , but they are matched to the vehicle vin number . So they won’t work in another car .

Cheers guys.
Searched the glovebox and FIL had the service book, handbook and everything in there. There is no mention of either a radio code or needing a radio code so might not need this approach after all.
But if it’s easy enough to do I might still attach the pack.
Cheers again

Agreed. Radio codes have long gone.

You turn your back for a minute and the place goes to pot.
