 KIA - KIA EV2 - mcb100
I’m running a KIA EV2 for a few weeks while it’s being launched.
So far, so good. It’s proving pretty efficient, despite me having to traverse the Pennines every day from Manchester to multiple locations on various varieties of Yorkshire - it’s showing 4.2 miles per kWh despite doing very little urban running.
KIA are pitching it against the Renaults 4 & 5, and it provides a bunch more practicality than the 5 and similar to the 4.
By summer there’ll be two battery sizes, a 42.2 kWh First Edition (the one I have) and a 61 kWh variant. Official ranges are 196 and 281 miles. Even my less than optimal commute is producing a real world range of just under 180 miles.
Comfortable, rides well, decent stereo, all good so far.

Seeing as no one has commented ,and I for one enjoy your thoughts and findings ( considering this is a motoring forum, members don't appear to be that interested in cars, seems politics and easily solvable computer problems are the main subjects worthy of comment) thought I'd thought I'd better add my thoughts, looks ok'ish, wheels are hideous as is the slab of plastic at the front, interior is typical of kia imho.
Thought the same upon reflection of the new E Vitara I recently drove, interior was truly a lovely place to be, comfortable and well laid out, rode well and you could see the Vitara heritage looking side on but the head on was a mess ( again imho...and I'm a Suzuki fan).

Suzuki's E-Vitara is, AIUI, based on the new Toyota Urban Cruiser, so I guess they were limited in what they could do with making it their own with regards styling.

The EV2 looks interesting as well, though much less quirky than its Hyundai Inster stablemate.

A good friend of mine has a 2015 1.6 4x4 Vitara and whilst the interior is a bit basic with lots of hard plastics, the car seems to be very reliable and I quite like it, though he acknowledges the interior of my Tucson is better.

Other way up - the Toyota is a Suzuki. Pop the bonnet on the Toyota and there’s yellow sticker on the slam panel saying it’s a Suzuki.

Thanks for the update!

Having worked on a Suzuki e Vitara launch event 16 months ago, and subsequently spent three weeks training Toyota sales staff about Urban Cruiser, last week was the first chance I’ve had to drive one properly, albeit within the confines of Millbrook Proving Ground.
Decent interior (some Toyota switchgear, particularly the drive selector control), slightly laggardly infotainment system and distinctly modest DC charging capabilities, but it’s not pretending to be something it’s not.
Suzuki are offering a dual motor, AWD version, Toyota sticking with single motor FWD. If slippery conditions feature in anyone’s plans, e Vitara was genuinely impressive in an off-road environment.

As I own a 2019 Vitara I was curious about the new e Vitara.

Whilst waiting at the bus stop in Skipton yesterday ( after a few scoops sat outside The Boathouse) to get home to Settle, one drove past. Thought it looked quite Vitara like.

An EV doesn’t suit my motoring requirements yet but may do at some point in future.

I’m pleased to see that there’s an increasing number of small / medium sized EVs at relatively normal prices beginning to hit the market. 4.2 miles / kWh doesn’t sound terrible for that sort of use, especially if there’s a fair amount of motorway use. Renault though does seem to have the best range of cars in that bit of the market out of the European manufacturers - the 4,5, Megane and Scenic all appear to be pretty much class leading. But maybe the new EV Polo will push VW forward. My mother is waiting for the EV A2 so she can replace her aging Audi A1. There’s no point trying to convince her or my father (who are both knocking on 80) that now is the time to switch from European cars to Korean ones, even though it’s almost certainly a sensible move :)
