No more blood tests? - Rudedog
Seems that the Forensic Service as from today stopped agreeing to analyse and blood passed onto them from the police for blood alcohol levels, not sure what this exactly means and what, if any, repercussions it may have.

The Lancashire lab was, and maybe still is, in Preston.
In the 60s it was the duty of the Manchester City Police A Division to take the night's blood and urine samples there using the Velocette LEs.

I did the run many times, lovely in Summer over Belmont, no motorway then, and a breakfast on the way back.

No breathalyser in those days......just, I think, Sec 6 RTA.

I still have the bike in my garage.

The breathanalyser at the station is now acceptable as evidence. Two samples are taken and the lower used.

Is this a proposal or has there been legislation on the matter?

No - blood/urine samples only required if the station test is between two levels, i.e. the legal limit and a slightly higher level (50mgs) to corroborate the breath reading which may be compromised by other factors.

OR if a breath test sample can not be given.

You're right of course Zero and also samples taken in hospitals or the machine in the nick is broken.

There are four other suppliers of the service to test blood.

Anyone who thinks they can get drunk, drive, refuse breath, go for blood, and avoid prosecution, is mistaken.
