Its just the legal profession making money.

No one with an ounce of common sense is going to confuse an F1 car with a pickup truck.

...Its just the legal profession making money...

Not really, the legal profession has not made the complaint, Ford has.

And if Ford let this go, what next - a Ferrari GT40?

 What the F-150! - R.P.
Rather surprised that Ferrari want to name their car after a pick-up truck at all. What next - Ferrari Allegro......?(which would make sense in an Italian sort of way)

It may be they didn't realise, take cock-up over conspiracy every time.

Ford probably aren't too bothered about one model, but I think it's a case of them protecting their boundary generally, a shot across the bows of Ferrari.

But was it instigated by the Ford legal department ?
 What the F-150! - R.P.
Yes but no doubt on the instructions of management ! Ford's lawyers will probably be salaried anyway.

...Yes but no doubt on the instructions of management...

That's how I would expect it to happen.

Ford's directors decide there's a problem and instruct their legal department to sort it.

Nobody was going to mistake Mrs McDonalds cafe in Cowdenbeath with one of the similarly named purveyors of bits of dead animal and lettuce either but they still tried to sue her!

"The company has threatened many food businesses with legal action unless they drop the Mc or Mac from their trading name. In one noteworthy case, McDonald's sued a Scottish café owner called McDonald, even though the business in question dated back over a century (Sheriff Court Glasgow and Strathkelvin, November 21, 1952"

I do not know the outcome

The "Easy" company is very protective of the "Easy" brand.
It has led to this service from the NHS to carefully avoid using the word easy

Microsoft is challenging Apple's aim to trademark "App" as a word that belongs to Apple.

Frankly that's daft, "app" is an abreviation, its like registering "veg shop" as a trade mark.

We'll soon see about that:

Dear Mr Jobs,

Did you know a small internet company in the UK is using the term iPage?

I think you should act.

Kind regards,

An Apple fan.

PS. Get well soon.

Hmm, spose you could same the same about Photoshop.

 What the F-150! - PR
I wonder if this has anything to do with Ferrari's parent company Fiat now running Chrysler!!

They should worry - Apple's about to become the world's most valuable company:

Other online news sources are available.

This has been a public service announcement.
 What the F-150! - Iffy
Intelligent people are only interested in the message, not the messenger.

This has been a common sense announcement.
 What the F-150! - Alanovich
Thanks for that.

Intelligent people do consider the messenger when making their minds up about things, especially when the messenger in question is well known for having an agenda.

It's called not taking things at face value.

Yours,
Stupid.
 What the F-150! - Iffy
...It's called not taking things at face value...

It's a dry business story about facts and figures.

All the projections are from analysts.

The Mail is merely quoting them, and stuff from Apple's balance sheet.

There may be times when you can look for hidden agendas, conspiracy theories, and even reds under the beds.

This is not one of those times.

Iffy, I'm just getting weary of seeing so many links to that publication.

It's starting to put me off visiting this site.

...It's starting to put me off visiting this site...

We have to get our talking points from somewhere, and the Mail is a good, free source of those.

While I don't entirely trust it, I trust it more than some 'hereisthenews.com' blogging microsite of which I've never heard.

I'm also reluctant to suggest anything other than a mainstream site to forum members because of possible virus infection.

The Times is now subscription-only, although that still leaves the Telegraph and the BBC, which I do link to sometimes.

How about Sky News?

Don't suppose you like that, either. :)

Quite often the stories in the Mail are word perfect copies (or vice versa) of those in the mail. But that happens not to be the case in the above article.

I've nowt against it. I'm a subscriber, after all. Sports, Movies, the lot.

I quite like ITN and The Independent as it goes, although The Indy's constant fanatical screaming about "climate change" is tiresome.

I've always disliked the Wail for its roots (like a certain spivvy football club on my team's manor, a leopard never changes its spots), and in particular for the MMR scare.

Not going to accuse me of being a Morning Star reader?? ;-)

There is long running antagonism between Ford and Ferrari. This one was too good for Ford not to have a poke at them. Good chance of winning too, the logo is far to familiar.

Ferrari should change it to CL - 150 in Roman numerals. Wasn't that poverty spec. in the VAG empire though?

Don't know about VAG but the 1.4 Focus was a CL. Saw one down my road the other day - don't think they sold many.

LOL, good point.

Ferrari 10010110 in binary or 96 in hexadecimal don't sound too catchy, and whoever owns Saab will probably sue for the latter.

Ferrari have changed it!

...Ferrari have changed it!...

They didn't want their nice shiny racing car associated with a smelly old Ford pick-up.
