Wider trailers - Dwight Van Driver
If anyone interested ?

THE ROAD VEHICLES (CONSTRUCTION AND USE)(AMENDMENT)(NO. 2) REGULATIONS 2010 which comes into force 20th April 2010:

2.1 This amendment replaces the 2.3 metre maximum width limit, imposed on trailers towed by cars and goods vehicles with a maximum laden weight not exceeding 3500 kg, with a maximum width 2.55 metres, thereby providing harmonisation with European wide construction rules for trailers.

Harmonisation, ord rot it. Will have to watch out for these new super-trailers, 25cm wider.

25cm wider... just under 10 inches for the pre-decimalised people here. :¬)

That may be very significant re. older Airstreams. I've a feeling that it was their width that prevented them being used in the UK.
