Yeah Perro, meaty is the word I think. All TRs sounded good in their day and were solid.

You would have to try to align the bonnet and boot lid properly though. Odd of the seller not to have done it.

The TR6 love is OK Dog... but not that one! Admitted paint blemishes and poor chrome, the issues AC's noticed and lots of crusty bits underbonnet... £12,500... no thanks.

Of course if you like blue and boring you could always pick this from his showroom...

Too many wires and cables under that bonnet - have they not heard of wireless or bluetooth???? :)

I drove a TR6 years ago.

My main memory is the overdrive.

It was controlled by a small column stalk, rather than the 'ejector seat' slider switch on the gear knob which was fitted to the 2.5PI saloon.

Column stalk was the way to go - had a lovely cross country run in MGB with this fitment years ago, left it in 3rd and flicked the over drive on and off between the bends without taking hands of the wheel - roof down, even the showers didn't spoil the fun.

...Column stalk was the way to go...

I preferred the switch because you could go from overdrive third to direct fourth in one movement.

Bearing in mind the gearing sequence was third, overdrive third, fourth, overdrive fourth.

I can remember as a child, sitting perched on the back of a LHD TR6, my feet tucked down behind the seats and hanging on to the backrests being driven by my older cousin's american husband who had bought it in the UK with a view to taking it back to the States.

Wouldn't be allowed now of course.

I remember a cross country dash in one as a passenger, in deepest Warwickshire it was, both of us the worse for drink - I seem to remember a village bobby wearing a cape trying to flag us down....and failing...!

The TR6 is nice but lacks the grace of the TR5, which is the pinnacle of the TR range in my eyes.

There's a 6 not far from here, has the most awful straight through exhaust on it, too loud and raucous and gives me no pleasure whatsoever to hear it, i couldn't bear to drive it like that.

Agreed GB... a TR5 in a strong colour with wires looks magnificant.

Proper British sports cars in BRG, is there anything that reminds one more of better times.

Sort of goes with driving out to a country pub with your latest squeeze for a pint and a fag and not having to feel guilty about the beer, or the tobacco or indeed worry about the price of the petrol while making progress without vexing over whether there's a camera !
