32,000 Euro parking Fine issued by Italian Police - Falkirk Bairn
Well, it was actually a 102 Euro parking fine + interest for late payment.

The problem occurred as the date was input as 208AD rather than 2008AD and compound interest did the rest.

1800 years compound interest is expensive - so watch where you park your chariots!

Can't beat that, but I inadvertantly put an old parking ticket into a parking payment machine in Austria, and discovered that I owed over 2000 euros - luckily, the machine helpfully told me that I could use any coins between 10 cents and 2 euros to pay. Unfortunately, I didn't have my wheelbarrow where I keep my loose change with me at the time :-). I resolved it by getting up close & friendly with a mate who paid slightly less (around 50 cents) to leave the car park.....
