Is this just a Surrey thing ? I have seen others in Surrey and IMO they are not a very good idea.

Its a system thats been used for a number of years all over the country, mostly it works. You may not like it but you cant deny it forces you to stop and or take more care due to the uncertainty.

I have been griping about the incredible, Livingstone-style malevolence and stupidity of this dangerous crap in Surrey ever since I joined HJ several years ago.
There is nothing whatsoever to be said for it. It 'works', but by manufacturing unnecessary hold-ups. Wonderful. Just what we all need.
Proper drivers don't cause accidents at roundabouts. Foolish reckless ones do, whether the roundabout has these so-called safety measures or not.
Annoying everyone without improving safety: the Surrey road-planner's maxim (but not just Surrey alas).
